As we all know, the coronavirus pandemic has both caused and exacerbated many problems in our country. Coming out of the holiday season, two consumer problems that really stand out are issues with airline travel and for people seeking medical care.

Every stage of the life cycle of plastic is toxic -- it's made from oil and gas, it harms our wildlife in the form of pollution, and it dirties our public lands. Now, an additional step in that toxic life cycle is on the verge of going big.

We had a chance to catch up with campus team and U.S. PIRG alum Rich Williams, who currently serves as the chief of staff for the Office of Postsecondary Education at the U.S. Department of Education. Here’s more about him, in his own words.
